Lauren Swift, créatrice du champagne Glamoureuse

OK, if you’ve already pressed play then you’ll realise that it’s all in French but we thought that shouldn’t stop us sharing this interview with you. Lauren has recently joined the extended 10 family as she has asked us to help promote her Glamoureuse Champagne brand in the UK.

Here’s some background info from the interview:

“Lauren Swift was born in Iowa, USA, and grew up within a traditional farming family. Lauren also has a law degree in hand that saw her begin a legal career that has led the U.S. Congress in Washington, DC.

Lauren decided one day to move to Paris. For her, France evokes the splendor of culture, history, fine arts but also champagne “the exclusively French prestigious drink.” Fascinated, she studied the history of this legendary wine, closely linked to female personalities such as Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, Jeanne AlexandrinePommery and Lily Bollinger.

Inspired by their fate, Lauren Swift created after several years of work and development, a champagne dedicated to contemporary women. Glamoureuse is a fine balance between tradition and modernity.

With Glamoureuse , Lauren Swift gives a real facelift – and charm –  to the great ladies of champagne. Her champagne, she has developed with the house Lombard, founded in 1925 in Epernay.”

Branding is becoming even more important

Over the next few years, branding, marketing and positioning will become even more important. As barriers to entry continue to fall, mainly due to online, competition among startups will increase and the startups that reach their target customer bases with the best messaging, building the most effective brands, will win.

Lauren with her Brandschool™ team

Yesterday we conducted a fantastic and ‘glamoureuse’ Brandschool™ workshop with the beautiful Lauren Swift. American by birth, Lauren has long considered France as her adopted home. Always impassioned by the French Art de Vivre, she had a desire to create a new champagne. Dedicated to the modern woman, Glamoureuse was conceived to promote camaraderie and joy and make the world a little more glamourous. Live a dream!

GF Smith visit to James Cropper, Cumbria

It’s not uncommon for several of us here in the office to get a little overexcited when we talk paper, so it was Christmas come early when GF Smith invited Michael to go and visit the place where the magic happens.

James Cropper Speciality Paper is the UK’s only truly bespoke specialty paper manufacturer and are the company that produce the Colorplan range for GF Smith. Based at Burneside Mills, Kendal, six generations of the family have built the company to where it is today – a global business driving innovation and discovery.

“The day was fascinating, educational and inspiring” said Michael.

“We started with the basics in the lab, learning how colours were mixed and matched, what effect the different raw materials would have on the end product and saw for ourselves, on a small scale, the principles of making a sheet of paper.”

The place was stooped in history and family ties, people were born in the village, went to school in the village, worked in the mill side by side and, inevitably, would be buried in the village. A truly great sense of pride and passion was very quickly communicated by all who work there.

As we moved in to the main mill to see the production on the grand scale we all really began to appreciate that this couple of hours would be so valuable when we returned to the office. Thinking of our next project, if there is a potential place for paper to play in it, the visit should help us communicate a little better with clients and printers to create some great printed (or not) pieces.

My personal favourites – ‘Sorbet Yellow’ and ‘Pistachio’.

A big big thanks must go out to Matthew Scharf, GF Smith and all at James Cropper for their amazing hospitality and chitter chatter. The company was entertaining, the scenery was stunning.”

Dedication, that’s what you need.

Two of the 10 faithful decided that it’d be a good idea to take a stroll to work this snowy morning rather than stay tucked up at home in the warmth. Good work folks, we all appreciate the effort.

We are the cats that got the Cream!!

The whole 10 team were chuffed to pieces to win a Cream Award 2012 last Friday. It’s nice to get a bit of recognition for this year’s blood, sweat and ink!!

Following an online award ceremony (a first for Cream Yorkshire), our shiny trophy arrived in the office on Monday and has pride of place in the Reading Room alongside our other awards. We won it for our ‘Little Book of Brand Achievement – 10 Things You Should Know About Branding’.

This small but perfectly formed piece of self promotion has been admired by all who have received one and proves that a beautifully designed printed piece can still have a big impact in this digital age.

We would like to thank the judges for their impeccable taste and DMP for a lovely print job. Please let us know if you would like one of these limited edition little gems (get in touch).

“Really great stuff is what I say! We’re pleased that people have been so receptive to the messages in the book. We really thought it’d be a great way to communicate with people without stepping into the realms of using over complicated messages to get a point across. It’s a great read and lovely to hold in your hand, everyone’s had a hand to play is this one so big thumbs up to Team 10!” – Michael Freemantle, Head of Design @ 10

You can see the little book itself here or watch the awards ceremony on The Drum website.
